Team Building and Ice Breaking Games and Activities for Corporate Events

Corporate Event Games & Activities

The activities and games that are made a part of corporate events are those that are both enjoyable and add value to the events. While there are different games and activities you can incorporate depending on what the event is about, it is generally ice breaking and team building activities that work best for such events.

These corporate event games and activities don’t only add life to the events but also allow people to know each other, relax, enjoy, and participate at the same time.

If you too are looking for ideas to make corporate events fun and interactive, here are a few games and activities that you can incorporate.

1.     The Game of Possibilities

This game is less time-consuming and is an amazing one for team building. All that you need to do is divide the participants into several small groups and distribute random objects in each group. The object you distribute should be given to a random person in each group and those who get it will have to stand up and showcase a unique use of the object in front of everyone, one after the other.

Another way you can play this game is by having the person with the object give clues to their team in order to guess the object. In this scenario, the demonstrator will not be allowed to speak.

The objective of this game is to allow the participants to be creative and interact with each other while having fun. It inspires creativity and team building.

2.     Turning the Negatives into Positives

The objective behind this activity is to enable the participants to engage better and cheer each other up. It helps them discover ways to gain a positive outlook even in the most trying times and teaches them not to judge others.

You can either divide the participants into pairs or trios or more. What happens during the activity is that a person will share his/her real-life negative experience from the past with the other member(s). After this, the other participant(s) will look at the scenario and discuss the positive aspect of the same experience. The partners will keep on switching roles until everyone is done.

Outdoor Team Building Games

3.     The Perfect Square

You will need long pieces of rope and a blindfold for every participant. All that you have to do is make the coworkers form a circle while grabbing a piece of rope. Each of the members will then be asked to put their blindfolds on and set the rope on the floor. Next, have the participants must move away from where the ropes were placed and then come back and arrange all the ropes together to form a large square with each other’s help while still being blindfolded.

This game will encourage communication as each participant will be dependent on another and allow them to demonstrate their leadership skills. This will also develop a sense of trust among the participants and add to their team building skills.

If there is a corporate event coming up and you have been stressing over making it engaging and fun without sidelining the actual purpose/goal, Scottsdale Corporate Events has got you covered. Connect today to discuss your options!

How to Organize a Successful Car Show

Organize Your Car Show at a Hangar!

Looking forward to organizing your car show? Got all the luxury and latest models ready? Just need a big enough place. How about a jet hangar?

You would never have dreamt of it before but if you live in Phoenix, Arizona then you can set up your car show at a jet hangar.

Let’s have a look at some of the reasons why it would be a splendid show because of the amazing location.

  • Make Use of the Huge Space

A car show needs a lot of space. All the new models and the concept cars on display need their room. You can use the space available in the hangar for as many cars as you would like to put on display. Despite the displays, the hangar will have enough space to accommodate all your guests and for more additions to the event.

You can have access to a space of 75000 square feet both indoors and outdoors if you organize your event at a jet hangar. That will more than fulfill your requirements.

  • Arrive at Your Event in a Plane

Yes, that’s right! You can make a grand entry at your event. After all the guests have assembled, you can swoop into the event in your private jet. Awe your guests with your stylish entry. Take pictures inside the jet, climbing out of it and even outside it. It can stay in the center of the event for everyone to take pictures with it. When you rent the hangar, you can also the rent the jet!

  • Accommodate Thousands of People

The hangar is big enough to facilitate a gathering of about 2000 people. For your car show, you can have a completely sold out event. All the people can fit in easily at the hangar. In fact, you can even add round tables and chairs for a formal dinner. As an added entertainment you can request the waiters and servers to be dressed as air hostesses.

It will add a feel as if the entire event is taking inside of an airplane. You could be having all this fun during a flight!

  • Have Room for a Bar & a Barbeque

You can set up an open bar at the hangar. If you are using the outdoor space, you will have the room to set a live barbeque for your guests. These two things are just what your event needs for its promotion. All those attending the event will be talking about it for a very long time!

A car show needs room for too many things. With Venues of North Scottsdale you can organize your event at the Lux Air Jet Center without worrying about all the extra space you’ll need. It will become the event of your life! Not only will it improve your sales but it will also be the most memorable experience of all the guests attending it. Visit us and see the wonderful location yourself! We will make your event a tremendous success.

Top 4 Reasons Why You Should Plan Your Wedding at an Airport Hangar

Top 4 Reasons Why You Should Plan Your Wedding at an Airport Hangar

When we think of airports, the first thing that immediately pops into our minds is obviously, an airplane. The second thing is the passengers, and then traveling, and so on and so forth.

Not even in our wildest dreams do we regard airports as wedding destinations. And that is mainly because it is not the usual place for weddings to be arranged. However, you may not know but an airport hangar is a unique place where you can have your wedding planned. Are you wondering what an airport hangar is?

Well, it is a spacious building where airplanes are repaired or serviced, as well as parked. The hangars are far away from the terminals and runways, but they are a fun place to have the wedding ceremony. Read on to find out some reasons why an airport hangar should be your wedding venue!

1.     A Modern and Unique Trend

Are you bored and tired of weddings taking place in churches, beaches or the backyard? Do you want a unique venue? You surely do!

An airport hangar is a perfect option for you to have your wedding in the most extraordinary style. An airport hangar is the latest trend that has not become common yet. So, surprise your guests by inviting them to such an amazing venue.

2.     Spacious Enough to Accommodate a Large Number of Guests

The space is generally limited when you have wedding ceremonies in churches, backyards or wedding halls. And therefore, you are unwillingly forced to invite a limited number of guests. However, this may not be the case when you have your wedding in an airport hangar.

It is an open-air place with a large space that can easily accommodate thousands of guests. So, don’t hesitate to call your friends and their friends when having a wedding at an airport hangar!

3.     Customize the Venue

An airport hangar gives the opportunity to customize the place whichever way you want. You can make the location gorgeous and stunning by creatively styling it the way you feel.

For example, you can follow fun themes like airplane tickets as an invitation and have a matching themed table decoration accordingly.

4.     A Unique and Fun Wedding Photo Shoot

Photos are the best way to collect beautiful memories. And that’s why a wedding photo shoot is a must. The photo shoot at an airport hangar will be undoubtedly the most outstanding experience.

The photos clicked in the open-area will give a remarkable result. Plus, having jets and planes as the backdrop will make the photos look quirky and cool!

Weddings are the most special day of one’s life and they should be nothing less than extraordinary. So, choose the airport hangar as the perfect wedding venue and make the ceremony an extravagant affair.

You can book us to help you plan your wedding event at the airport hangar in the perfect way possible!

Endless possibilities in a airplane hangar

Does your bad guy need to hop into a helicopter and fly into the sunset?  Therefore you’ll love the possibilities here!

Whether you’re after a loft-style space or a cavernous exhibition space with vaulted ceilings. As well exposed pipes and cement floors, hosting an event in an industrial-style space is all about the wow factor. There’s a stripped-back quality about this style that makes for a unique atmosphere and leaves a lasting impression on guests. Also pared back to the essentials with strong clean lines and no hint of excess.  Industrial spaces are big, bold, comfortable in their own skin and all the more chic for it.

Especially relevant Unique Venues are bursting with character and have colorful histories that help generate buzz around an event. Scottsdale most visited city in the Southwest

Scottsdale most visited city in the Southwest; it’s one of the most dynamic cities on the planet. We have fabulous parks and museums and world-class dining, shopping, entertainment and hotels. We have everything you (and your guests!) could want—including a long list of special event venues.

The most dynamic cities on the planet

Corporate events are drawn to unique sites that offer both privacy and an occasion for maximum personalization. They do not want to tolerate the hotel guest lounging poolside in swim trunks a measly few yards away from the reception.

They also dread ineffective attempts to add a special spin to the usual boring décor. “The privacy factor is unquestionably a big draw—in a private hangar you can have the location all to yourself. It’s almost like home.” For guests who want every element to sing in perfect harmony, a private hangar makes that possible.

Whether it’s on a faraway island, a 5 Star Resort or a secluded desert villa, weddings at exclusive private hangars top the charts for couples tying the knot. We are made up of multiple venue options within the Scottsdale Arizona. Our exclusive access, in-house capabilities and extraordinary team make this venue experience like none other. We offer unique venues and options such as world class catering + dynamic furniture, decor and entertainment packages if needed.

17 Sports Tourism Trends for 2017

Clay Partain, director of sports market sales for Visit Salt Lake, is on the frontlines of sports tourism trends. This year, Salt Lake City will host the USA Fencing National Championship and July Challenge Athlete Packet and USA Judo Senior National Championships. “Destinations are lucky to usually get one or two of those every couple of years, and we are now averaging one of those a year,” he says.

The timing couldn’t be better. Partain says he’s seeing a “huge rise in sports” where fans are more interested than ever. “It’s like a gold rush and everybody is realizing their potential and wants their events everywhere,” Partain says.

As a result, sports planners are becoming more educated on what destinations can provide them, he says. That, in and of itself, is a trend driving the industry to new heights. To get an idea of what’s ahead, we consulted leading minds in the field to compile this list of 17 sports tourism trends to watch in 2017.

1. Authentic experiences. Event planners want an experience they can only find in your city, says Jennifer Hawkins, executive director of sports development at SportsPITTSBURGH. Decide what makes your city unique, whether it’s a museum or new restaurants, and celebrate the hot spots.

 2. Growth of nontraditional sports. Think e-sports, which have sold out Madison Square Garden, Staples Center and Oakland, California’s Oracle Arena. “These tournaments are garnering more attendance than NBA games,”says Lawrence Hamm Jr., sports development manager at Destination DC. “Cities are going to be looking at what’s next for competition, not just traditional sports.” Hamm also points to a Spikeball national championship held in October 2016 on the National Mall and Washington’s bid to host the Gay Games in 2022. Other growing sports include gay flag football, wakeboarding, drone racing and orienteering.

3. Visitors want a vacation after the event. “Millennials are looking for cities that offer an extra day or two of activities,” Hawkins says. “They want outdoor adventures, Airbnb and attractions, such as a craft brewery, only a short stroll (or Uber ride) from a lively downtown with great food and nightlife.”

4. Cities are chasing futbol. The heavy pursuit of United Soccer League and Major League Soccer franchises is driving the development of new soccer complexes.  That trickles down to youth soccer programs. Because franchises want to be in cities with strong, local grassroots support for the sport, says Ray Hoyt, president of Visit Tulsa (Oklahoma) and Tulsa Sports Commission. Hoyt says that’s led to a spike in popularity soccer hasn’t seen in this country in two decades.

How Event Planners Choose Venues

How Event Planners Choose Venues.

Choosing a venue is one of the most delicate decisions that event professionals face.

The largest trade shows in the meeting and event industry are mainly focused about connecting two audiences: event professionals and venues.

If you walk the floor of IBTM or IMEX events you will notice dozens of venues (sometimes through convention bureaus or national tourism boards) from around the world trying to win planners’ favour.

Hosted buyers programs where created to facilitate this connection. Some hosted buyers programs pay for travel and accommodation expenses, give access to VIP lounges and lavish private events if the event professional is able to demonstrate they manage venue budget and are willing to make appointments.

Technology Is Not Standing and Watching

One of the strongest focus of technology providers over the past three years revolved around facilitating this exchange.

Venue search engines popped up all over the place. Websites where event planners looking for a new destination or venue could find all the information about potential candidates.

Some companies automated the Request For Proposal (RFP) process. They collectively got venue owners to reply to event planners’ demands.

Undoubtedly this is one of the hottest areas of technology where innovation could mean multi-million dollar revenues.

Why Is Choosing a Venue So Important?

If you are starting out in the event industry, you will soon realise that the venue decision will have the biggest impact on your budget and overall performance of the event.

To captivate event profs’ preference, venues gained control of catering, audio visuals and technology at large. They offer inclusive packages that cover most requirements associated with events.

Such service convergence makes the bill bigger and the weight associated to the decision heavier.

Choosing a venue is without a doubt a decision that can make or break your event. It is that one decision where event professionals feel the pressure.

What Influences Venue Decision Making Process

I could come up with several factors influencing decisions when it gets to choosing venues. But that would only be my speculation. An absolutely and utterly sound speculation, but still a speculation.

You know how I like to try to be analytical with content that makes it to the blog. Don’t like gossip, I don’t like fashion.

Decided to dig deeper and did a bit of research.

I found an interesting paper on the topic, that I strongly suggest to read. Here it is: Individual and Organizational Characteristics Influencing Event Planners’ Perceptions of Information Content and Channel Choice by Amanda Caroline Alexander, Dae-Young Kim and James Groves in Journal of Convention & Event Tourism – Vol. 13, Iss. 1, 2012 (That is how pros reference articles

image: https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/2/svg/1f642.svg

?Findings are succulent.

Personal Interaction Is the Most Valuable Channel Affecting Decisions

While as an event professional you may think this is quite obvious, this may not be the case for venue listing websites, search engines, trade magazines, blogs, events, etc.

In fact the research, which was carried among 5500 ISES members, computed decision preference among channels such as direct marketing, printed media, technology (websites, search engines), collateral advertising and personal.

Therefore word of mouth seems to be the channel we rely on when looking for a venue or advice on selecting a venue.

A year ago we published an infographic called How Technology is Changing Events. One of the stats in there is that according to a study, professionals trust online information almost as much as information gotten from in person.

That means that exchanges with our peers online will influence decision making in regards to venue selection.

Meeting Room Information Has the Strongest Influence on the Final Decision

This is also an interesting one to better understand how event professionals’ minds work. Despite the research has been carried within the International Special Events Society (which I am proud member of), therefore in a demographic who pays extra attention to the venue component, the findings are quite surprising.

The study found that meeting room information is the most important factor in the decision, more than the cost of facility, attractions, exhibit space, food service, previous experience, sleeping rooms capacity and tech support.

Venue cost? For Real? I would have guessed that pricing was going to be the major factor influencing decisions. Apparently not the case.

I am impressed and this gives a lesson to all those marketing their venue or creating technology for marketing venues. Meeting Room information is what matters. Exposing the features of your meeting room is what makes event pros say yes!

In Conclusion

Choosing a venue is surely one of the most delicate decisions an event professional faces.

Research has demonstrated that we trust others’ advice when looking for information about a venue. That has a massive implication for events and trade shows promoting destinations and venues. In fact facilitating this exchange of information through networking or peer-to-peer sessions becomes extremely important for the success of the event.

Another important factor that impacts suppliers is exposing the meeting room information as much as possible. In fact this will be the ultimate influencer in the decision making process.

I’d be interested to know whether this is also your experience or if you have anything else to add. Do use the comment section to express your thoughts.
